The Making Rooms, handmade candles

We often talk about how our products are 'handmade' and 'artisan made' - this is something that really is at the core of Bath House - every product we make is made with love and care, that’s why our products are so special and how we maintain high quality throughout our products.

Watch our film, where our Production Manager, Nicola gives us an insight into the process of creating our home fragrance soy candles in our making rooms in Dent, Cumbria. Watch how we carefully blend perfumed oil with naturally derived soy and rapeseed waxes to create our much-loved soy candles for the home.

How our soy candles are made.

In our making rooms, the team of home fragrance experts heat soy and rapeseed wax in a large boiler. Rapeseed is added into our soy candles as it is an excellent fragrance retention agent that helps to ensure a clean burn with long-lasting fragrance.

The patchouli scented oil is added when the wax reaches the right temperature, then mixed thoroughly to saturate the wax in our fine signature fragrance. The candle glasses are gently pre-heated before we pour the wax, this prevents the wax from separating from the sides when it cools.

Long lasting, natural home fragrance

Our Patchouli & Black Pepper Fragrance Candle, like all our fragrance candles, can burn up to 40 hours, filling the room with its own unique atmosphere and mood.

For its first use when first lit, allow the soy candle to burn until the wax in the candle has melted and pooled to the edge. Trimming the wick between uses is one of production manager Nicola’s recommended tips. Trimming the wick so that it is no longer than 6mm can ensure it burns longer.
