In the world of skincare, some ingredients shine independently, their reputation is built on years of scientific research and real-world results. But the true magic happens when two powerhouse ingredients come together – each enhancing the other, working in harmony to create something greater than the sum of their parts.
Such is the case with Niacinamide and Hyaluronic Acid, a duo that has quietly become one of the most effective and universally beneficial skincare pairings. Found in everything from balancing facial serums to hydrating treatments, this pairing does more than just quench thirsty skin or brighten dull complexions – it works at a deep cellular level to repair, strengthen, and protect the skin’s barrier.
Yet, for all their popularity, few people truly understand how these two ingredients work together, what makes them so compatible, and why they should be a staple in every skincare routine.
What is Niacinamide?
Niacinamide, also known as Vitamin B3, is one of the most versatile ingredients in modern skincare. Unlike some actives that only target a single concern, it is a true all-rounder, capable of addressing hydration, texture, pigmentation, inflammation, and oil regulation – all at once.

How does Niacinamide work?
It improves the skin’s barrier function – the protective layer that defends against pollution, irritants, and moisture loss. It does this by stimulating the production of ceramides, the lipids that help maintain hydration and resilience.
Its benefits are wide-ranging…
Balances oil production, unlike harsh exfoliants or drying treatments, Niacinamide helps to regulate sebum levels, making it equally beneficial for oily, combination, and dry skincare routines.
Evens skin tone and fades pigmentation, it inhibits the transfer of melanin to the skin’s surface, gradually fading those dark spots, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and promoting an uneven tone.
Soothes redness and sensitivity, as an anti-inflammatory, it calms irritated skin, reducing the redness associated with acne, rosacea, or environmental stress.
Minimises pores and refines texture, by increasing cell turnover and collagen production, it smooths rough patches and tightens enlarged pores over time.
Despite its impressive list of benefits for the skin, Niacinamide is exceptionally gentle. Unlike some actives that cause peeling or irritation, it is well-tolerated by even the most sensitive skin types.
What is Hyaluronic Acid?
While Niacinamide is a remarkable ingredient on its own, its full potential is unlocked when paired with the ultimate hydrator – Hyaluronic Acid.
If Niacinamide is the skin’s protector, Hyaluronic Acid is its moisture reservoir. Known for its unparalleled ability to retain water, this naturally occurring molecule can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in moisture, making it one of the most effective hydration boosters in existence.
How Does Hyaluronic Acid Work?
Its function goes beyond simply pulling water into the skin…
Strengthens the skin barrier, by replenishing moisture levels, Hyaluronic Acid fortifies the skin’s natural defences, preventing irritation and damage.
Plumps and smooths fine lines, by drawing moisture to the skin’s surface, it instantly fills in fine lines and creates a dewy, youthful complexion.
Boosts skin elasticity and repair, hydrated skin produces more collagen, meaning over time, Hyaluronic Acid supports long-term firmness and resilience.
But what makes Hyaluronic Acid unique is its ability to adapt. Rather than overwhelming the skin with excess moisture, it adjusts based on the environment, ensuring the skin stays balanced without becoming greasy.
While Hyaluronic Acid is a hydration powerhouse, its effects are short-lived without the right support and this is where Niacinamide steps in.

Why do Niacinamide and Hyaluronic Acid work so well together?
Hyaluronic Acid pulls moisture into the skin, but without strong skin barrier support, that moisture quickly evaporates. Niacinamide prevents transepidermal water loss, ensuring that the hydration provided by Hyaluronic Acid is locked in.
Together, as in our balancing facial serum, they form a high-performance duo that enhances skin at every level. Think of it this way – Hyaluronic Acid is like a glass of water, while Niacinamide is the lid that prevents it from spilling out.
A perfect balance for every skin type…
One of the most remarkable aspects of this duo is that it works for all skin types. Whether you require dry skincare products or anti-acne skincare, you will find products with these ingredients recommended.
For dry skincare routines, Hyaluronic Acid replenishes moisture while Niacinamide restores the barrier that prevents future dehydration.
For oily and combination skincare routines, Niacinamide regulates excess sebum, while Hyaluronic Acid delivers lightweight hydration without making skin greasy.
For sensitive and acne-prone skincare, Niacinamide reduces redness and inflammation, while Hyaluronic Acid keeps the skin calm, hydrated, and soothed.
Anti-ageing benefits without irritation…
While ingredients like Retinol or Vitamin C can cause irritation, Niacinamide and Hyaluronic Acid offer anti-ageing benefits without sensitivity. By supporting collagen production, plumping fine lines, and evening out skin tone, they provide a gentle yet highly effective approach to skin renewal.
How We Source and Use These Ingredients
You will find both of these active ingredients in our Balancing Facial Serum. Here we have skilfully paired Niacinamide (1%) with Hyaluronic Acid (0.02%), ensuring hydration is not only delivered but retained, while also addressing oil control, redness, and texture refinement.
Both ingredients are sustainably sourced – Hyaluronic Acid from Switzerland, where it is bio-fermented for purity, and Niacinamide from Tapioca, a plant-based source that ensures maximum bioavailability. The result? A balancing facial serum that adapts to your skin, delivering moisture where needed, while refining tone and texture over time.

Applying Balancing Facial Serum is simple, follow these easy steps for the best results –
1. Start with a clean skin, wash your face with a gentle cleanser and pat it dry with a soft, clean towel.
2. Apply a few drops, put 2-3 drops of the serum onto your fingertips or directly onto your face.
3. Gently massage in, spreading the serum evenly over your face, using upward and outward motions. Focus on areas that need hydration or balancing.
4. Let it absorb, wait about 30 seconds to one minute for the serum to fully sink into your skin.
5. You may wish to follow with moisturiser to lock in the hydration.
6. Apply sunscreen, this serum can be used day or night but if used in the morning, it’s good to finish with sunscreen to protect your skin.
There are few pairings in skincare that are truly universal, but Niacinamide and Hyaluronic Acid stand apart.
They are not about aggressive correction or quick fixes – they are about supporting, strengthening, and improving the skin in a way that is both effective and intuitive. For those seeking balance, clarity, and long-lasting hydration, this duo is not just a recommendation – it is a necessity because true natural skincare is not about forcing results – it is about working with your skin, not against it.
