There is something grounding about using what the earth has already made – a kind of humility in working with ingredients that predate beauty trends by centuries. Clay, charcoal. oats and oil – these are not novelties, they are fundamentals.

In our facial cleansing bars, we work with a tightly edited palette of natural ingredients – not to overwhelm the skin, but to support it. Each sustainable skincare ingredient is chosen with care, based not just on what it does, but where it comes from, how it’s processed, and how it feels on the skin.

This is elemental skincare, drawn from the land and crafted for daily ritual.

The intelligence of clays.

Used since antiquity for their detoxifying properties, clays are at the heart of many of our formulations. Not all are created equal – and not all suit the face. We favour the finer, softer clays that naturally cleanse without pulling, polish without abrasion.

Fuller’s Earth Clay, this is sustainably mined in Wyoming, is featured in our Detoxifying Facial Cleansing Bar. Exceptionally fine and mineral-rich, it acts like a gentle magnet – drawing out impurities while refining texture and tone.

French Green Clay, naturally sun-dried in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, forms the base of our Mattifying Facial Cleansing Bar. It absorbs oil, tightens pores, and lightly exfoliates – ideal for sensitive skincare routines and complexions prone to shine, especially in warmer months.

Each clay is allowed to speak for itself — unblended, uncoloured, unprocessed beyond what is necessary.

The power of slow-made charcoal.

In Devon, a handful of artisans still craft activated Charcoal using traditional slow-burn techniques. Wood is reduced to carbon over time – no chemical agents, no shortcuts.

This charcoal, prized for its exceptional porosity, is used in our Detoxifying Facial Cleansing Bar to reach deep into pores, lifting pollutants, excess oil, and microscopic debris. Often found in modern clay natural cleansers and masks, we include it here in its purest form – minimally handled, maximally effective.

It works in tandem with soothing ingredients like Lavender to cleanse without over-correcting. A balance of draw and calm.

Oats, calamine, and gentle strength.

Where other ingredients cleanse, colloidal oats comfort. Milled in Scotland, our oats form a creamy lather rich in beta-glucans – long-chain sugars that support the skin barrier, reduce redness, and bring softness without weight.

In our Balancing Facial Cleansing Bar, oats are paired with calamine – a zinc-based compound known for its calming properties. Together, they create a bar that feels like relief: for wind-chapped cheeks, hormonal breakouts, or skin that simply doesn’t want to be bothered.

These bars are made for in-between days – when the skin feels unpredictable, but still deserves calm.

Plant oils that serve the skin.

We are often asked “will a bar dry the face?”. The answer lies in our oils. Each one is selected not just for moisture, but for skin compatibility and speed of absorption.

Shea Butter, sourced through Fair Trade cooperatives in Ghana, delivers rich, vitamin-laden nourishment. It’s found in our Hydrating Facial Cleansing Bar, where it supports elasticity and softness without residue.

Honesty Seed Oil, cultivated in Lincolnshire, is rare in skincare, found in our Hydrating Facial Cleansing Bar. High in nervonic acid, it strengthens the skin barrier and leaves behind a subtle, silicone-like slip – a tactile luxury with no synthetic counterpart.

Safflower Oil, sourced sustainably from France, featured in our Rescue Facial Cleansing Bar, is exceptionally light. It absorbs quickly, hydrates efficiently, and supports skin prone to congestion or irritation.

Paired with Glycerine – a plant-derived humectant that draws water into the skin – these oils create a cleansing bar that leaves the face clean, supple, and protected.

No fillers. No fragrance. Just function.

Each sustainable skincare ingredient has a reason to be there. We do not add fillers, stabilisers, or synthetics for texture or fragrance alone. If you notice scent, it comes from the essential oils included for their skincare benefits: lavender to soothe, geranium to balance, citrus to clarify.

Nothing included for show. Nothing included without purpose.
