Over the past month, I’ve been journeying along the lanes and roads of the north, through Cumbria, Yorkshire and further south to Cheshire, watching as the glory of the autumn leaves are carried away on the wind. At this time of year, we hope for the promise of the days turning crisp, and enjoy the earthy scents of winter, filling the frosty air.
Each visit has been a chance to shape our stores into havens, ready to embrace the warmth and wonder of the Christmas season. This year, it has been a joy working alongside Hannah Garside of Aelisabet Flowers. Hannah has such a gift for capturing the soul of the season. Her arrangements are all crafted from British-grown flowers and foliage gathered from hedgerows and are steeped in the russet and burnished tones of winter. There’s an honesty to them and a gentleness as they fill our windows with the hues of the landscape, bringing a sense of calm and natural beauty to the heart of our bustling shops. It feels as if we’re inviting a little piece of the countryside indoors, to share with our customers in this most special time of year.
